A little tribute to one of the cutest moments I’ve ever seen in a documentary.
It happened in a Swedish program about gender roles, and at one point they wanted to see how children in a kindergarten acted. They placed a big box with knights costumes and princess dresses in the kindergarten, and then let three boys and three girls pick their clothes. The boys immediately grabbed the knight costumes and a sword each, and the girls of course picked the dresses, but seemed largely uninterested in the swords.
Then a male teacher put on a princess dress too. All the children gave him weird looks, and then one of the boys yelled, “Boys can’t wear dresses!” to which the man said, “Boys can wear dresses if they want to” “No!” the little boys yelled, and then started harassing the man and hitting him with their plastic swords.
But then the little girls came to his rescue. They quickly grabbed the remaining swords in the box and got between the man and the boys, yelling, “Be nice to him! He can be a princess if he wants to!”
Apparently the mere fact that he was dressed like a princess made the little girls see him as one of them. I thought that was freaking cute.
EDIT: Sorry, I watched it a long time ago on TV (DR2) so I no longer remember what it was called.
